68th Independence Day celebrated in Chakma Autonomous District Council

Kamalanagar, Aug 15 (Mizo News)/Borapansury: India’s 68th Independence Day was celebrated today at Kamalanagar in CADC. Dangu Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma, Hon’ble Minister graced the celebration as its chief guest.

The celebration which was organized in the Kamalanagar foot ball playground witnessed the display of routine march past by parade contingents of different schools of the locality. There were presentations of colourful cultural items by students of different schools.

Dangu Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma while addressing the people remembered the great freedom fighters of the country and paid tributes to them. He spoke at length about the various developmental programmes that the Government of Mizoram has undertaken in the sector of education, health care, security, road connectivity, power & electricity, drinking water, agriculture, oil exploration and promotion of sports. He said NLUP the flagship programme of the Government shall continue to receive utmost priority to bring about socio economic transformation in Mizoram.

“In CADC area, the roads from Kamalanagar to Longpuighat, Kamalanagar to Bajeisora are being constructed under PMGSY and the road from Kamalanagar to Chhotapansury under NABARD, which shall get completed before 2018”, he said.

Construction of the arterial road from Chhumkhum (Rotlang) to Chawngte has received administrative approval for a sum of Rs.270.27 Crore. Black topping of the road from Chawngte to Diltlang under PMGSY is near completion, he said.

He said, although Mizoram is the 3rd literate state in India, Lawngtlai District is the least educated district with 65.88% literacy rate as per census-2011. To improve the literacy rate here a Block Institute of Teacher education shall be established for Chawngte, he said.

Borapansury Primary Health Centre in CADC which started functioning under PPP model between CADC and State Government was provided with an X-Ray machine under BADP. He assured that an ambulance van will be shortly arranged under MLA LAD.

CADC area has the potential for fish farming and a new project is being submitted to NFDB to tap this potential wherein the districts of Kolasib, Mamit and Serchhip are also included.

Earlier, in the morning Dangu Buddha Lila Chakma, Hon’ble CEM, CADC unfurled the national Flag in the premises of the CADC Secretariat where he said that the ever power crisis in CADC shall be addressed by exploiting the potential for mini-hydro project within CADC area.
