Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the biggest student organisation in Mizoram on Wednesday carried out an operation against illegal traders in the State capital here and closed down some business shops run by non-tribals.
On October 9-10, 2014, the student body in its general assembly had passed a resolution declaring that a search operation shall be launched to drive out illegal non-tribal traders in the State. Adhering to the resolution, the student body took out the search operation in some localities in Aizawl during which business establishments run by illegal non-tribal traders were closed down. The business shops were mostly run by borrowing Mizo names while some were run by illegal non-tribal traders.
The student body said in a release that it will continue to conduct search operations against illegal non-Mizo traders and shops run in the name of Mizos.
